Introduction

Gender Equality International Workshop

Substantive gender equality is of crucial importance when we consider the Sustainable Development Goals as a guideline towards a world that is more respectful of human rights as well as the environment.

Great progress has been observed in recent decades. However, it is clear that there is a gap between formal equality and substantive equality: differences still remain today, and no country in the world can claim to have achieved perfect equality.

For this reason, the GENEVA FORUM, in partnership with Women of the World and Objectif Sciences International, offers you a session of exchanges and workshops on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. (Geneva time), before the Geneva Forum conferences which take place every year in December at the UN, to collectively discuss and work on the innovative practices to be built and implemented in order to promote the emergence of a world where:

- Women would have the same rights and freedoms as men;

- Women would no longer be the targets of sexual and physical violence, or war crimes specific to their gender;

- Women’s lives would no longer be in danger simply because they are women;

- Women would have the same chances of succeeding in traditionally male fields as their peers, such as the pure sciences or manual trades;

- The work of “care” would be better distributed between the members of the same household, allowing women to exercise a professional life and to develop personally beyond their role as mother and wife;

- And many other things...
